Atapupu dan pantai utara Timor

Pantai Utara Pulau Timor (bagian barat Indonesia) pernah dikuasai Portugis selama hampir 300 tahun lebih. Diawali dengan bangsa Spanyol yang menginjakkan kaki untuk pertama kali pada 25 Januari 1522. disusul dengan dipermandikannya orang Timor pertama pada tahun 1556, hingga jatuhnya pelabuhan Atapupu kepada tangan Belanda pada tahun 1818,

FULL AGENDA FOR POPE'S APOSTOLIC TRIP TO TIRANA
Vatican City, 31 July 2014 (VIS) – The programme of the Pope's Apostolic trip to Tirana, Albania, scheduled for 21 September, was published today.
The Holy Father will depart at 7.30 a.m. from Rome's Fiumicino airport, and will arrive at the “Mother Theresa” aerodrome in Tirana at 9 a.m., where he will be greeted by the prime minister, Edi Rama. He will proceed to the Presidential Palace to make a courtesy visit to the president of the Republic of Albania, Bujar Nishani, followed by greetings with the political authorities.
At 11 a.m., Francis will celebrate Mass and pray the Sunday Angelus in Mother Theresa Square. He will then transfer to the apostolic nunciature to lunch with the Albanian bishops and members of the papal entourage. At 4 p.m. he will address the leaders of other religions and Christian denominations at the Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel”. At 5 p.m. he will celebrate Vespers with the priests, religious, seminarians and members of Albanian lay movements in the Cathedral of Tirana, after which, at 6.30 a.m., he will visit children at the Betania Centre, along with various people from other charitable centres in Albania.
At 7.45 the Pope will leave for the airport, departing for Rome at 8 p.m. He is expected to arrive in Rome's Ciampino airport at 9.30 p.m.

POPE FRANCIS' PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR AUGUST
Vatican City, 31 July 2014 (VIS) – Pope Francis' universal prayer intention for August is: “That refugees, forced by violence to abandon their homes, may find a generous welcome and the protection of their rights”.
His intention for evangelisation is: “That Christians in Oceania may joyfully announce the faith to all the people of that region”.

Vatican City, 31 July 2014 (VIS) – The Holy Father has appointed Rev. Fr. Ephrem Nariculam as bishop of the eparchy of Chanda of the Syro-Malabars (area 32,233, population 4,357,654, Catholics 13,119, priests 85, religious 563), India. The bishop-elect was born in Sanjopuram, India in 1960, and was ordained a priest in 1986. He holds a doctorate in spiritual theology from the St. Peter's Pontifical Institute in Bangalore, India, and has served as parish priest in Ernakulam and Delhi and rector of the minor seminary of the eparchy of Chanda. He is currently chaplain of the Syro-Malabar community of Toronto, Canada. He succeeds Bishop Vijay Anand Nedumpuram, C.M.I., whose resignation from the pastoral governance of the same eparchy, upon reaching the age limit, was accepted by the Holy Father.

RATUSAN umat paroki  Stela Maris Atapupu, memadati  halaman pelataran gereja. Kehadiran umat paroki yang berbatasan langsung dengan negara Timor Leste ini untuk menyaksikan secara langsung pentahbisan serta pemberkatan gereja baru Paroki Stella Maris Atapupu  yang dipimpin langsung oleh Uskup Atambua Mgr. Dominikus Saku Pr.

Mgr. Theodorus van den Tillaart, SVD


Theodorus van den Tillaart lahir pada tanggal 15 Agustus 1909 di Veghel, Belanda. Katika beranjak remaja ia masuk Seminari SVD di Steijl dan melanjutkan studi Filsafat dan teologi di . Pada tanggal 18 Agustus 1935 ia ditahbiskan sebagai imam SVD dalam umur 26 tahun tiga hari. Bulan Januari 1937 ia tiba di Timor dan membuka stasi Maubesi. Paroki Maubesi waktu itu sangat luas, meliputi paroki Mamsena, paroki Fatuha’o, paroki Manamas, paroki Wini dan paroki Mena. Dengan berkuda beliau berkeliling paroki yang sangat luas itu dan mengenal umat di kampung-kampung yang luas itu. Setelah beberapa tahun di situ beliau kemudian menjadi Deken TTU sebelum

Mgr. Jacobus Pessers, SVD


Mgr. Jacobus Pessers, SVD adalah Vikaris Apostolik Pertama di Gereja Timor.  Ia lahir pada tanggal 5 Pebruari 1896 dari keluarga kaya di Tilburg. Ketika beranjak remaja ia masuk seminari SVD di Steijl, kemudian belajar Filsafat dan Teologi, lalu pada tanggal 10 Januari 1922 ditahbiskan menjadi imam SVD, dalam usia 26 tahun 3 bulan. Bulan Februari 1925 ia tiba di Timor. pada tahun 1926  P. Pessers membuka secara resmi stasi Atambua. Tanggal 1 Juni 1937 ia diangkat menjadi Vikaris Apostolik Netherland Timor, tanggal 16 Juni berita pengangkatan itu diterima di Timor, tanggal 11 September 1937 disahkan pemerintah Hindia Belanda, lalu tanggal 28 Oktober 1937 ditahbiskan menjadi uskup.

Mgr. Henrich Leven, SVD


Henricus Leven lahir di Lank, dekat Aachen, di wilayah sungai Rhein, pada tanggal 13 Juni 1883. Ayahnya Wilhelm Leven (22.4.1853-21.12.1922) adalah seorang guru Sekolah Dasar. Ibunya, Catharina Classen (3.5.1857-18.10.1900) adalah ibu rumah tangga. Pada tanggal 3 Oktober 1899 Henricus Leven memasuki rumah misi di Steyl. Ketika itu Dia berumur enam belas tahun.  Karena kesehatan yang lemah Henricus Leven dikirim pulang untuk memulihkan kesehatannya. Dalam waktu luangnya, ia membantu ayahnya mengajar di sekolah. Ketika dia cukup sehat, ia kembali ke Steyl.  Pada tanggal 1  November 1907 ia mengikrarkan kaul pertama,  dan tanggal 7 September 1910 ia mengucapkan Kaul kekal.  Pada  tanggal 29 September 1910 pentahbisan imam bersama dengan 56 teman-teman sekelasnya.

Mgr. Arnold Verstraelen, SVD


Mgr. Arnold Verstraelen, SVD lahir pada tanggal 19 Juli tahun1882 di Sevenum Provinsi selatan Limburg, Belanda. Beliau adalah putra seorang Kepala Sekolah Dasar. Ia belajar seminari menengah SVD di Steijl, kemudian belajar Filsafat dan Theologi di Wina dan ditahbisakan pada tanggal 24 Pebruari tahun 1907, ketika ia berumur 24 tahun enam bulan.  Setelah tahbisannya ia dikirim ke misi SVD Jerman di Togo, Afrika Barat. Tahun 1912, ketika ia sedang berlibur, ia diminta untuk menemani P. Piet Noyen, SVD untuk pos misi baru di Hindia Belanda. Ia adalah pastor SVD ke dua yang tiba di Timor setelah Piet Noyen. Ia menemani P. Noyen selama berkeliling di Timor Tengah. Setelah perpindahan P. Piet Noyen ke Ndona, P. Verstraelen adalah pemimpin misi di Timor. Selama bertugas di Timor dari tahun 1913 – 1922, ia pernah bertugas di Lahurus, Halilulik, dan balik ke Lahurus.

Mgr. Petrus Noyen, SVD


Lahir pada tanggal 3 September tahun 1870 dalam sebuah keluarga kelas menengah di Helmond, Belanda. Tahun 1883 ia bergabung dan belajar di seminari menengah SVD di Stejl. Walau tempat ini ada di Belanda, tetapi seluruh hidup lembaga itu bercorak Jerman. Setelah menyelesaikan Novisiatnya ia melanjutkan belajarnya di filsafat dan Teologi hingga tahbisan pada tanggal 7 Desember 1893. Tahun berikut setelah tahbisannya ia berangkat ke Cina dan bekerja di Shantung hingga tahun 1909. Ia bekerja selama 15 tahun di misi Cina. Tahun 1909 ia diangkat sebagai Rektor pertama seminari SVD di Uden. Tujuan dari lembaga ini adalah untuk melatih para calon imam SVD supaya bekerja di misi koloni Belanda.

Pembekalan Misionaris muda SVD Indonesia 2011

Setiap tahun SVD Indonesia mengirim puluhan imam dan bruder ke berbagai Negara di seluruh dunia untuk mengembang tugas sebagai misionaris. SVD Indonesia mengambil kebijakan untuk memberi bekal pengetahuan dan sharing pengalaman kepada para misionaris muda ini sebelum mereka diutus ke tanah misi masing-masing secara bergilir antar tiga provinsi SVD di Indonesia yaitu Timor, Ende dan Jawa. Tahun ini giliran SVD Timor yang menyelenggarakan pelatihan sekaligus persiapan untuk para misionaris muda SVD Indonesia itu.

VATICAN CITY, 7 OCT 2011 – Pada tanggal 7 Oktober Paus Benediktus VI menerima rombongan uskup dari Konferensi Waligereja Indonesia, dalam kunjungan ad limina.   Pada kesempatan itu Paus Benediktus XVI mengatakan bahwa "Pesan Kristus tentang keselamatan, pengampunan dan cinta kasih telah diberitakan di negara Anda selama berabad-abad.

Oepoli adalah sebuah wilayah terpencil di Kecamatan Amfoang Timur, Kabupaten Kupang yang juga merupakan serambi depan Indonesia bagi wilayah kantung (enclave) Timor Leste, Oecusse.

Kairo, Mesir (AsiaNews) – Lebih dari 20.000, orang mengikuti upacara penguburan 17 orang dari 25 orang Kristen Koptik yang terbunuh ketika terjadi pertikaian antara para demonstran dan tentara di Mesir pada tanggal 9 Oktober 2011.

Para pelaku tindak kekerasan terhadap pemeluk agama lain perlu segera ditindak tegas karena merongrong toleransi umat beragama, kata ketua Konperensi Wali Gereja Indonesia, KWI, uskup Martinus Dogma Situmorang.

Kegiatan Komsos KWI dan Komsos se Indonesia di Kupang

Pada bulan Juli lalu, Komsos KWI dan Komsos keuskupan se-Indonesia mengadakan syering agung di Hotel Kristal Kupang.   Kegiatan itu berlangsung dari tanggal 17 -22 Juli 2011.  Kegiatan ini sejatinya merupakan rapat pleno tiga tahunan, yang sebelumnya disebut Pertemuan Nasional (Pernas).
